BSF to get new arms for border vigil

Border Security Force’s Director General, K K Sharma said on Friday that security forces are being strengthened by equipping BSF soldiers deployed on the western border adjacent to Pakistan with the  state-of-the-art arms.
Six new battalions of BSF are being approved for security on Pakistan and Bangladesh borders. The number of sand scooters is being increased on the border of Rajasthan. Seizing of border has been started experimentally in Jammu and Kashmir. DG Sharma said that sand scooters are proving to be very useful in security of the border on the sandy slopes of Jaisalmer, Barmer and Bikaner, therefore the number of sand scooters is being increased. He said that the infiltration and firing by Pakistani forces is taking place but the the BSF has given them a befitting response. He said the border is being sealed by making five-five km of passage in Jammu Kashmir as pilot project.
He told that the tourists visiting the border is also being considered. On Friday, DG took stock of the cross-border activities from the Bablian border post on the Pakistan border and took feedback about border management from officers and also discussed about cross-border activities on the western border and security with officials.
He inaugurated the newly-built residential scheme of Border Security Force. IG Anil Paliwal of Rajasthan Frontier, Special DG, K N Chaube, DIG Amit Lodha, and Naresh Kumar were present on the occasion. Sharma will come to Jodhpur on Saturday.
